China to Bangladesh shipping cost per kg — how it is worked out
Air cargo is charged by weight; sea cargo by weight or by volume. The catch: a light but bulky carton is charged for its size, not for what it weighs. Here is how the numbers work, with a calculator for your own cartons.

Enter your carton size and weight to see the actual weight, the volumetric weight and the CBM.
Most air cargo divides by 6000, some couriers by 5000 — your quotation says which one applies.

Actual weight or volumetric weight — whichever is more
Air cargo looks at two numbers and charges the higher one: the actual weight on the scale, and the volumetric weight worked out from the carton size:
Volumetric weight (kg) = length × width × height (cm) ÷ 6000
Some couriers divide by 5000, which makes the volumetric weight higher — your quotation should say which one is used.
Example: a carton of 50 × 40 × 30 cm weighs 6 kg. 50 × 40 × 30 = 60,000, and 60,000 ÷ 6000 = 10 kg. You pay for 10 kg, not 6. The same goods packed tightly in a 40 × 30 × 30 cm carton come to 6 kg volumetric — the same as their real weight.
CBM for sea shipments
Sea cargo is often measured in cubic metres (CBM):
CBM = length × width × height (cm) ÷ 1,000,000
The 50 × 40 × 30 cm carton is 0.06 CBM; ten of them are 0.6 CBM. Depending on the goods and the company, sea cargo is charged by CBM or by kg — check which your quotation uses.

What a "per kg" price may not include
Two prices per kg are only comparable when they cover the same things. Ask whether the price includes:
- the product price and delivery inside China to the warehouse,
- customs duty and VAT in Bangladesh,
- delivery from the warehouse in Bangladesh to you,
- extra charges for batteries, liquids, powders, branded or fragile goods.
How to compare shipping quotations (guide, in Bangla) →
Customs duty
Import duty in Bangladesh depends on the product's HS code. It can include customs duty (CD), regulatory duty (RD), supplementary duty (SD), VAT, advance income tax (AIT) and advance tax (AT). The official rates are on the Bangladesh Customs Import Export Hub. Some cargo services quote one price per kg that already includes duty for small shipments, others add it separately — ask which one you are getting.
How to pay less for shipping
- Ask the seller to pack tightly and drop oversized outer boxes — the volumetric weight falls.
- Put several small orders into one shipment.
- Send heavy goods that are not urgent by sea.
- Ask about extra charges (batteries, liquids, branded goods) before you order.
Common questions
What is the shipping cost per kg from China to Bangladesh?
It depends on the goods, the weight or size, air or sea, and the season, so China2BD sends a written quotation for each request. Use the calculator first to know your charged weight.
Why is the bill higher than the real weight?
Because the carton is bulky for its weight: air cargo charges the volumetric weight when it is higher than the actual weight. See the example above.
How long does shipping take?
With China2BD, 10–20 days by air and 45–60 days by sea, from our China warehouse to Bangladesh. These are estimates; holidays and customs can add days.
Can I ship just 1 kg?
Yes — China2BD brings any quantity, even 1 kg.
